FAO Collaborates with Hajisons to Make Balochistan Green & Healthy

Exploring Agri Business Oppurtunities in Balochistan

A five day’s training including practical exercises and excursions in the field was organized by FAO in close collaboration with Haji Sons in Quetta.

Twenty entrepreneurial female and 10 male farmers from districts Quetta, Nushki and Chagi, including some GoB extension and research staff participated.

Training topics included:

• Seed variety selection
• Growth medium preparation
• Modern seedling production through special trays and peat moss
• Plant care especially for kitchen gardening
• Agri-Business opportunities for female farmers through modern vegetable seedling techniques and Kitchen Gardening

Some of the promising results of this training were that male and female participants wanted to establish their own vegetable seedling nurseries in the districts where there is no availability of fresh vegetable produce in attached markets.
